Top Buttons Mode
Use Top Buttons Mode to select the behavior of the camera's Top Buttons.
The Top Buttons modes include:

Select
Use Select to enable the normal SEL button behavior for selecting Onboard LCD Menu page items, and to disable the Function mode SDI overlay behavior.
Function
Use Function to enable the SDI Overlay Function option for the SEL button. When you enable the Function mode, the 
icon displays on the User Page or Preview Page status bar.
The Function mode of the SEL button allows you to cycle through the top SDI overlay values (when not on the camera Menu page), and adjust the values. You can use the Up top button (FN up) and the Down top button (FN down) to adjust the values.
NOTE: You must attach an SDI monitor or Top EVF, select an overlay with top values, and enable Tools, to fully enable the Function mode.
When Function is fully enabled, the 
icon displays on the User Page or Preview Page status bar.
When you are using the Menu page, the Select button behavior is enabled and the 
icon displays in the Status Bar.
